IP Office 5.0 Software
AVAYA IP OFFICE LEVEL 5.0 SOFTWARE
Level 5.0 software was launched in August 2009. With this level of software, AVAYA radically changed the way the IP Office system was configured.

With the IP Office Release 5.0 the licensing model changed to simplify selling, buying, learning and using IP Office. Additionally the Professional License was removed and the number of voice networking licenses reduced from 3 to 1.
With Release 5.0 IP Office had a simple three step user-centric model:
1. IP Office system platform and phones
2. System Edition licenses
3. User productivity licenses
AVAYA Essential Edition
The previously named 'Embedded Voicemail' was renamed 'AVAYA Essential Edition'. This is the standard AVAYA IP Office Voicemail offering mailboxes, automated attendant and voicemail to e-mail amongst many other features. This is a 4 port voicemail and is a physical piece of hardware in the shape of a flash card.
The license previously known as 'Standard to Professional Upgrade license' was withdrawn with level 5.0 software. This license previously allowed the IP Office system to expand beyond 32 extensions. It also allowed the use of the IP Office Voicemail Pro.
With level 5.0 software, a customer could now expand IP Office to their hearts content using the AVAYA Essential Edition product without having to buy additional licences.
AVAYA Preferred Edition
With level 5.0 software, AVAYA Preferred Edition was the new name for IP Office Voicemail Pro.
This is merely a license that equips the systems with a very powerful voicemail system that comes as standard with 4 ports and can be upgraded in 2 or 4 port increments.
This software must reside on an external PC and connects to the telephone system using a static IP address.
This voicemail is very feature rich offering the following:
Mailboxes, Automated Attendant, on-demand Call Recording, Dynamic Call Queuing and Call positioning announcements and much more. It also has a 'bolt-on' software option, Contact Store, which is a very in-expensive global call recording solution.
AVAYA IP Office Advanced Edition
The IP Office Advanced Edition was AVAYA's new name for AVAYA's Contact Centre Application on IP Office - this is for businesses wanting real-time call centre functionality.
Increased Expansion on Level 5.0
With level 5 software, the AVAYA IP Office system could now expand to 384 ports (from 272 on level 4). This is achieved by installing a base module containing 4 expansion ports into which Expansion Modules can be connected.
New AVAYA One X Portal
For some time AVAYA's Phone Manager on IP Office had been driving all the competition to copy them! However, it has been slightly limiting for some customers as Phone Manager is a client based application that has to be loaded onto a user's PC. Whilst this is great for most customers, it cannot be used by Apple Mac users or by customers using true Terminal Services/Citrix/Thin Client applications (note it is not supported on true thin client environments but it can work in some circumstances - call for advice - 01892 676000).
AVAYA's new One X Portal solution now filled this gap as it provided Computer Call control via a web browser - therefore it worked/works in thin client scenarios and on Mac networks..
New bundled IP Office licenses
With level 5.0, there were a number of new licenses available which bundled products together for the first time. These are summarised as follows - please see the specific pages on this web site for full details:
Mobile Worker Solution - enables twinning of your desk phone and mobile/external phone, call handling features via your mobile (like an extension) and text to speech (reading of e-mails)
Teleworker Solution - includes AVAYA one-X portal enabling PC Call control from remote phones/lines, presence (including Microsoft LCS) and instant messaging and VPN remote phone capabilities
Power User Solution -Includes all of the above plus Phone Manager Pro, soft phone (includes video soft phone), Voicemail to e-mail synchronisation for unified messaging.
Receptionist - previously known as Soft Console, this is specialist software designed for busy Reception staff
Customer Service Agent - for IP Office users with Call Centre requirements (AVAYA IP Office Advanced Edition)
